Driving and parking

On paper, pre-booking is the cheapest way to get a car to the airport for a week or more. Manchester Airport's own pre-book prices start from £54.99 for 8 days at JetParks, £59.99 for Drop & Go, £82.99 for Meet & Greet, and from £64 for 4 days in the Multi Storey. For a solo traveller who doesn't mind the drive and is away for a week or longer, that's hard to beat on price alone.

What the headline number leaves out: fuel for roughly 25 miles each way, the time you lose to the shuttle bus on the cheaper car parks, and the drive home after a long flight, often late at night. For a short break of two or three nights, the gap between parking and a taxi shrinks quickly once you add those in.

Being dropped off: the forecourt charge

Manchester Airport now charges to drop passengers outside the terminals. At Terminal 2, rates reported for 2026 are £5 for up to 5 minutes, £6.40 for up to 10 minutes and £25 for up to 30 minutes, paid online or by phone because the system uses number-plate cameras instead of barriers. Blue Badge holders can drop off free.

There is a free alternative: a drop-off point on Thorley Lane near JetParks 1, with a free shuttle bus to the terminals that takes around 5 to 10 minutes. It's free, but it adds a bus ride with your luggage. Rules and prices change, so check the airport's drop-off page before you travel.

A lift also costs your driver two full return trips, one to drop you off and one to collect you. For a friend or relative it's a favour, and for many people it's the reason they'd rather book a taxi.

Taking the train

There's no direct train from Winsford to Manchester Airport, so you'll need to change at least once, with all your luggage. It's workable for a daytime flight and light bags. If you're flying early in the morning or landing late at night, check the first and last train times on National Rail Enquiries against your flight carefully before you rely on it.

Fixed-price taxi from Winsford and mid-Cheshire

A door-to-door transfer takes the parking, the drop-off charge and the changes out of the equation. Our fixed prices to Manchester Airport are the same in either direction and don't change with the time of day:

FromEach wayReturn
Winsford, Northwich, Knutsford£60£120
Middlewich£65£130
Sandbach£70£140
Nantwich, Crewe, Holmes Chapel£75£150

That fare is per vehicle, not per person, so for two people sharing it comes to £30 each way each from Winsford, and a family of four pays the same £60. Give us your flight number and your driver tracks it, so a delay doesn't leave you stranded and an early landing doesn't leave you waiting. Bank holiday dates carry a supplement, shown before you confirm. See the full Manchester Airport taxi price list.
